The Chacao Market is a real treasure trove for those who want to immerse themselves in the local culture. As soon as you enter, you are greeted by stalls full of fresh fruit, spices, cheeses and other regional products. What's more, the vibrant atmosphere and the aromas of Venezuelan gastronomy make the trip even more special.
One of the best parts is trying the typical dishes sold in the stalls. The stuffed arepas and cachapas (corn pancakes) are an invitation you can't refuse.
Be sure to try the natural juices, made from local tropical fruits such as passion fruit and tamarind. The market is also perfect for buying souvenirs and chatting to the locals, who always have interesting stories to tell.

2. Warairarepan cable car
Going up the Warairarepano Cable Car was one of the most memorable experiences of the trip. The journey to the top of El Ávila National Park offers spectacular views of Caracas and the surrounding mountains. During the ride, I was enchanted by the natural beauty and the feeling of being "above the world".
At the top, the climate is cool and pleasant, perfect for walking and exploring. There are restaurants serving traditional dishes and a small market selling local handicrafts. I recommend visiting in the late afternoon, when the sunset paints the sky in golden and reddish hues. Take a jacket, as the temperature can drop quite a lot at night.
3. Historic center of Caracas
The Historic Center of Caracas is a deep dive into Venezuelan history. I started at the Casa Natal de Simón Bolívar, a museum that houses personal objects and relics of the Liberator. It's thrilling to be in the same place where one of Latin America's greatest heroes was born and spent part of his childhood.
Plaza Bolívar, the historic heart of the city, is surrounded by important buildings such as the Municipal Palace and Caracas Cathedral. The colonial architecture enchants visitors, while the peaceful atmosphere invites a moment of reflection. I took the opportunity to sit on one of the benches in the square and watch the movement, imagining what life would have been like there in ancient times.
4. El Ávila National Park
El Ávila National Park is a natural oasis that seems to have been tailor-made for nature lovers. I took a trail that led me to a viewpoint with an incredible view of Caracas. The sound of the birds, the fresh smell of the vegetation and the tranquillity of the place were invigorating.
For the more adventurous, the park offers trails of varying levels of difficulty. For those looking for something lighter, there are picnic and rest areas.

5. Botanical Garden of the Central University of Venezuela
The Botanical Garden is one of my favorite places in Caracas. It's a peaceful space full of tropical plants, perfect for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I walked among towering trees and exotic flowers, enjoying the sound of the birds and the gentle breeze.
The garden is also an important center for environmental research and education. As well as relaxing, I learned about native species and the importance of conservation. The space is ideal for families, couples or anyone who wants a moment of peace and connection with nature.
6. Caracas Museum of Contemporary Art
The Museum of Contemporary Art is a place that exudes creativity and inspiration. Its collection is impressive, with works by renowned artists such as Picasso, Miró and Botero, as well as Venezuelan talents. I spent hours exploring the galleries and being surprised by the diversity of the exhibitions.
One of the highlights is the museum's architecture, which in itself is worth a visit. The modern structure contrasts with the surrounding urban setting, creating a unique environment in which to appreciate art. 7. Local cuisine in Los Palos Grandes
Los Palos Grandes is the perfect destination for those who want to explore the gastronomy of Caracas. It's a neighborhood full of restaurants, cafés and bistros offering everything from traditional Venezuelan dishes to international options.
During my visit, I tried the famous pabellón criollo, a typical dish consisting of rice, black beans, shredded meat and fried plantain. I also fell in love with the tequeños, fried cheeses wrapped in dough, perfect as a starter or snack. The neighborhood is welcoming and ideal for a gastronomic stroll, day or night.

8. Plaza Altamira
Plaza Altamira is one of the most iconic places in Caracas. During the day, I visited the square to appreciate the modern architecture and the tranquillity of the surroundings. It's a great spot to take photos and relax while watching the local movement.
At night, the lighting transforms the square into an enchanting scene. The surrounding area is full of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a good drink or dinner. The combination of history and modernity makes this a must-see.
